Hello All. I am new to the forum and new to the hobby. Bought a BH Pioneer 101 a few weeks ago from a pawn shop for $40. Haven't found much yet, some clad, a Bic lighter and a fishing weight (LOL) but am having a ball.

hi scotwitch, and welcome! oh, not to worry, there's plenty more older and deeper stuff out there for you to find! good deal on the 101. cool 'lil machines. look around for the older sites in your area, be patient and persistent, dig all good beeps, and you'll be well rewarded. and don't forget to post up your finds! good luck, and hh,

Scotwitch welcome to a great hobby. Don't worry the good stuff will come to you, just keep swinging and enjoying yourself. The more time you get with your detector the better you become with it. Make mental notes on how your detector acts to certain targets and it wont be long and you'll have good ideas what trash sounds like and the good stuff. You'll have an idea even before you dig. May your pouch fill with goodies.

I started off with a Pioneer 101, and liked the machine, but I wanted a little more, so I ended up here with the Land Star...If I had the money, I would own a Time Ranger and a White's DFX, but I can always dream right??? If your digging targets, your getting the hang of things...Better finds come with experience and research...I myself have not found anything of great note...My oldest find was a 1923 Peace Dollar....I have found some Silver, but not a lot, and Gold has totally eluded me....Most of my problems lie in the fact that I have no vehicle to get to my sites I think would produce, so I am stuck to local fields and tot lots...I have a few older home sites I want to hunt, but still trying to track down the owners...
Glad to have you with us, and be sure to ask any questions you may have and post your finds...

HH,

BH-LandStar

Thanks for the warm welcome. Not worried bout what I find, as long as I hear the beep. LOL.
