Went out to the "nail farm" again yesterday with the S-12 installed instead of the 10"Tornado.
Did not experience slightly different iron falses that I had two days prior. Everything seemed perfectly "Sov" normal.
Decided to see if there was anything particularly different about my coil selection that might have some bearing on the issue.
Did a little air testing with a #2 lead shotgun pellet. Seemed about the smallest object of a standard size and shape, with more of a "gold" conductivity that would test sensitivity limits.
Tried the test in disc mode first.
Coil sensitivity from best to worst ranged as follows..........
1...Tornado..3/4 - 1"
2...12.5 Detech...just slightly less
3...BBS800...about half as much
4..S-12...maybe 1/4" if that much
Tried again in all metal with similar results, except that all distances were less.
Decided to try the same thing with the 2a, and got similar results again, except with just slightly less "depth" than the GT. Not enough to make a rat's butt.
Don't want to draw any hard and fast conclusions as to how this relates to the iron falsing issue, but at this point, the extra sensitivity to small objects that the Tornado has may be the main cause of the falsing thing.
