Notching w/G2 and gold bug pro

Just found out no notching available for these models. Do they constantly make noise in trash? Any coinshooters have a problem with no notching in trashy parks? Thanks!

They disc really well and are smooth quiet running machines that 'see' thru the trash very well. I never missed having to forgo notching with my Gold Bug.

I have and had several machine with notch , but almost never use it .
As for the G2/GB with such a great ID ,.if in trash and digging say tabs.
Remember the ID and pass on them if you wish.
Some people coin shooting will raise the Disc level to just below say a dime and dig the rest.
Keep in mind notch or to much Disc can miss small gold.

So you can set the unit up to totally discriminate most iron without any tone, have some lower condutive tones hit as a low tone, and anything above that break point ( say clad and silver ) hit as a high tone.

Still have to dig the deeper sounding 'ticks' that ID in a narrow range when briskly sweeping the coil over them because some of them can be deeper coins/jewelry.

Its still best to run low disc to just take out nails if you are hunting old coins. At this setting anything below nails has a low tone and everything above has high tone. You will be able to unmask good targets. Increase the disc and more targets will be masked. I was having a little trouble the other day with the 5x10dd in a trashy area in that I was checking every tiny peep. I'm not sure the yet if the 5x10 is making some noise. I switched back to the standard 11" coil and seems to be running smooth again. I need to check it out more.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Sounds like something I could handle. Anyone tried both a G2 and the bug pro and had a preference of one over another and why? Thanks:)

Hey Habanero,
I have both a GB and G2 except my GB is a earlier model before the final product we see now.
To answer your question the main difference that puts the GB above the G2 for me is the S rod configuration, Ive used that style for 14 years so its mainly personal preference. I find the S rod to be more sturdy and to tip less when set down as digging a target.
If I had to change anything as far as the disc goes it would not be a notch but instead to be able to expand or decrease the range of the high low tone, For me the low tone range shrinks to much at higher discs.
The other thing that is specific to the pre SE versions is the non Vco audio, though the g2 and GB pro have more personality and finesse as the final product I fell the 2.0 GB hits harder on small objects at depth, I would love to see a future model with the ability to switch back and forth from saturated audio to VCO. Though both detectors operate exactly the same their really is a performance addition to having saturated audio, so much so that in my opinion it would be like having two different detectors in one. (my little wish list)

Ok thank you very much! I'm just trying to determine if these units are an upgrade to my dfx or not before I attempt to sell or trade it off. I had also been looking at the mxt pro as well, but I don't want to start a comparison stand-off. I think I would really like to go with the g2/gb pro now and it looks a lot easier to use than what I have.

the GBP will be different to the whites machines higher frequency at near 20 KHZ so very sensitive and probably not as deep as the whites but if looking for fast and separation then the GBP is very good at that it can pick goodies out of high trash  and most high trash sites the targets are not deep anyway so it does well there.
