Notching - Can you notch in more than one category?

Hi,

My old machines didn't have anything like notching and I was reading some other posts that lead me to believe that you could notch more than one category. Is this so?

For example: I want to cherry pick a park. With disc at 50 I want to bring back nickels. Nickels in my area read from 29-31. If I notch in 26-30 (set it at 30?)I miss the nickels from 31-35 and if I set the notch at 31, I miss the nickels reading 29-30. Is their a way to notch both categorys in so I can get my whole range 29-31 notched in? I really don't want 26-28 and 32-35. Any ideas on how to notch in just the range I want?

You have to notch in the two groups 26 to 30 and 31 to 35 to make sure you get the nickels if they read from 29 to 31.

Why not just dig the #'s 27-31? Haven't got my F-75 but should be here this week so am curious. I have however read the manual at least a dozen times for what it is worth

Doing this from memory - yes, you can have multiple notches.

In your case, reset the detector by pusing the toggel forward and holding the menu button down while turning on the unit. "75" appears in the display (I believe). Then release both buttons and "F" appears until the unit is initialized. Now set the discrimination up to 50 or 55. blip down to "Notch" with the menu button (release the button) and turn the knob to "35" and press the menu button once. Then turn the knob down to "30" and press the menu button again. You will nos have 25 through 35 notched in (there will be no lines through the top "NICKEL" tab on the display). I don't believe you can do it as specifically as you suggest - 27 to 31, but you can observe the TID and if it hops more than two units it is not a nickel.

i.e. If you sweep or "X" a target and it says 27 in one direction and 35 in another it is not a coin. If it says 30 in one direction and 29 in another - dig that nickel.
