Not using CTX to it's FULL Potential

Hello all,

Need your help here for a second. Unfortunately, I am not using my CTX to it's full potential. I have hunting, for the most part, in the factory setting coins mode, just to know my machine. I have been reading I can use some sort of open discrimination / full screen pattern, but can't seem to set the machine this way.

Also, I have been reading that there is a gone hunting program, but it's not in the eXchange2 down loadable program. Where can I down load it? or do I have to manually set my machine? A gentleman on this forum called Bay24502 and how he is using a setting on how to not discriminate targets.

Also, have you guys noticed that your machine goes silent sometime but a TID comes on the screen? I suspect I have missed ALLOT of targets only using the factory's settings coin program.

What is Combined Ferrous Coin mode - Wide Open? How does this help you? Also, when I press the Ground Balance to try to turn it off, it starts to ground balance. I read you need to leave this GB OFF..

I am trying to get the most out of the CTX, and I really do not like asking allot questions being a newbie and all with the machine, but I bought it because of all the options it offers. I hope I can get some feed back from you.

I also want to say thank you in advance for your time and your responses.

Hi,

You probably need to read the manual again concerning some of your questions. It can best explain the falling away audio which is quite normal and useful. Google 'Gone Hunting Settings' and you'll see a uTube video explaining it pretty clearly by the man himself. This will also show you how to make the wide open/ full screen/ non discrimination pattern. It's much easier than you think! I'm not sure what you mean by using Ground Balance to turn what off? Ground Balance itself? If so, you need to go into the menus and decheck Enable Ground Balane. Once you've done that Grand Balance will be off.

Thank you Rob and Gate Keeper. I Just unchecked the ground balance "enabled" box. That was easy.

Regardless of what program you are in you can go to an open screen by just pushing your detect button. When you are done hit the detect again and you will be right back to your original program. Keep hunting and digging and if any problems come up ask away. HH :minelab:

I just bought a CTX one week ago, and have already found 9 silvers with it. I have been using combined high trash and factory coins program. I want to get used to using it first before I start tweeking it. I got a 1910 wheat tonight at 8+ inches and it was a strong signal. Also got a 1902 Barber Quarter at 7 inches and it was hitting hard also. Be patient and hunt in the factory programs for at least a month before you try to do any tweeking. HH
 
he doesn't need to hunt in factory programs if hes not gonna use 50 conductive it will only confuse him more if it hasn't already, he needs to get into combined ferrous and run his machine like that, it a lot simpler... As I said before call me today and we will get you squared away! If you go bach about 6 pages in the forum there was an older lady who caught one of my videos and contacted me, shes was so frustrated at the point when she called she was ready to sell the ctx and go back to her whites mxt, I fixed her up now shes tearing it up in CALI!! She would have sold that ctx if we had not talked..

Take "Bav", Jeremy up on his offer. I am the "older" woman who he is referring to :) and I was pulling my hair out with the CTX. I no longer fall back on my Whites and although I don't post much just his past Saturday on a late 1800 property I found a 1938 merc, a 44 merc, a Buffalo Head nickel and a cute perfume bottle with cap on. I am finding silver and if it were not for "Bav" I may very well have sold the machine. I keep moving forward, no longer backwards with this amazing machine!
 
Well mrs! Ma'am how have you been I was gonna call u the other day to see how you have been doing, and couldn't find your number!! Anyhow it's good to hear your doing well with the machine,
