nugget and i come from the same area of qld, oz. we live only 75 miles away from eachother.

during my many posts about what detector to buy, my choice was between either the t4 or the tesoro compadre (i chose the compadre). nugget kindly offered to meet with me and give me a try of his t4 before i made a decision. however, im a research bug (and ask lots of q's) and despite nuggets convincing argument on the possitives of the t4, i decided on the tesoro compadre anyway.

as it turned out, a local hotel has recently (4 months ago) been demolished, and the scrap removed from the 1/2 acre site. monday i gained permission to hunt the spot this sunday, tomorrow. (oz time)

of course, ive invited nugget along. for purely selfish purposes i can asure you!!!! nugget gets a go at a chance of some good finds, and i get some invaluable advice. win, win, i hope.

im sure we will both find something we are looking for! and thanks again nugget, for taking your time to help out, and i look forward hopefully to searching other spots together, some time in the future.

First of all, a truly sincere apology to you Peter for not making it to the site, I'll give you a little nugget to make up for it. I managed to get away late friday night and ended up out on the gold field at 1.30am. Detected most of the day for trash targets. Relocated to a new spot that blew me away, I did'nt realise the extent of this alluvial field till now. 4 hills and 5 gullies, each one with lots of old timers workings. I detected a couple of hrs, then set up camp. Back out again with the LED headlamp for another 4hrs. My mobile ph ran out of charge, so I pulled my old one out and set it up. Was supposed to meet peter at the pub site at around 7am. The problem is I set the alarm on the ph for 4.20pm instead of 4.20am:confused: I casually woke up at 8.30 am  Realising I'd missed the boat, and was 35 minutes out of phone range, I though I'd detect where I was for the day and apologise to Peter as soon as I got into range. I managed to walk away from camp with a sure knowledge inside that I was going to score gold:) I detected for a while and got a reasonable signal with the Infinium LS, out popped a nugget weighing in at 1.65 grams. I cleared the logs and sticks and did a grid of the area, when I got a good bellow in the headphones. This one was about 4" down and screamed, it weighs 3.85 grams a nice looking nugget, feels and looks heavier so I'll have to weigh up with my prospecting mates scales to be sure. I went back and fired up the SD2100 with the 8" mono coil, and snagged a piece that small my scales won't weigh it:surprised: A killer combo that one. So all up 3 nuggets and a new location that will hopefully produce many more. Plus I hope you'll come out to the site with me Peter to make up for not making it today. I was going to call you after picking up my kids from church, mum talked me into staying and I did'nt get home till too late. I'll give you a call tomorrow. HH regards Robert.

nugget. if i had a $1 for every appointment ive missed, id have enough for a new minelab with all the whistles with it! sometimes things just dont go to plan. i think murphy was a miner anyway..! so who am i to judge?

you dont owe me anything. we have plenty of time to catch up. you just name a time, and we will try and arrange a 'hunt' together.

like i said, dont sweat it mate. seems you made a better decision in looking for some nuggets ? good one!! sometimes things turn out all right in the long run eh?

peter..

Good on Peter, thanks for your great attitude mate! I'd like the opportunity to get you out to the goldfields, I've got a few specialised nugget hunting machines, and one that's easy to use and extremely sensitive on small nuggets.. It would open another aspect of detecting for you also, and maybe score you a nugget as well. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:
