There is a small park of a couple acres not far from my house that I have been to so I could practice with my AT Pro and found nothing but trash. I had some time to go back yesterday after dinner and came across an area that gave me a bi-centennial quarter and 26 pennies. I went back after dinner tonight to the same area and came home with another 46 pennies. I found 5 in one hole and 7 in another. I found all these coins in an area the size of my kitchen table. I was also using the 5 x 8 coil. The mosquito's told me it was time to leave but before I did I scanned the area and sure enough i hit some more but did not dig. Save them for another day. I hadn't cleaned any from yesterday so i put all 71 pennies in a sonicator and cleaned as best i could.
10 wheat's 1937 - 1956.....46 memorials 1959 - 1985....14 unknowns....and 1 Bi- centennial Quarter.
I have only had the AT Pro for a few weeks and am still learning but now I know what a penny rings up at....lol.

Sorry for the quality of the photo.

nice spill! Sometimes they can be very hard to unravel, let alone identify as a spill and not just junk. Good work! :clapping:

Some folks pass on pennies but I figure as long as it's not trash I'm happy! Looks like you're figuring it out pretty good. Now if they could just figure out how to make metal detectors repel bugs when hunting life would be great!

Chew Big Red chewing gum to help repel the mosquitos. They are attracted to the CO2 that you expel and the cinnamon masks it. As far as pennies I'm pick up everyone to add to my coin finds for the year. It's my own competition going on. I've found that the zincolins ring in at 75-76,and the older zincs ring at 80-81. Wheaties somewhere between 72-74.

Just about every signal would come in the range of 79 - 80 - 81. It got to the point of do I want to dig another penny....lol. Besides, in case something else was in the hole i didn't want to miss it.
Which brings to mind.....Since I have only had the ATP for a short while and have no silver.....would the penny put off a different high tone then silver in that range?

Thanks
Denis

Good hunting, Denis. The silvers will still give a high tone, but the VDI will be in the mid to upper 80's for dimes & quarters, 90s for halves. (depending on your soil).

[size=large]i can't say for sure on the atp but on my other machines the seasons can change the numbers. the drying ground vs the wet seems to affect the numbers. won't be by much.
