I traveled on Wednesday from SC To Wv. Came up for Deer hunting which will start Monday. I had permission to detect the yard around a home that I know has been there for over 70 years. Was hoping for a real good hunt.
Arrived on site and next door neighbor got quite belligerent about me being there. I explained to him that I had permission and he still did not want to believe me and kept telling me to leave. I told him who owned the land and that he did not appear to be that person and to call the owner and talk to him. Told him my name so that he could call if he wanted. I again told him that "George" had given me permission. What he did not know was that "Georges" sister was one of the brides maids when my wife and I got married almost 50 years ago.
Broke out the Sovereign GT and commenced to hunt. One hour, Nothing, Two Hours, Nothing, Three hours, Nothing. I found pieces of cap guns, zinc jar lids (with glass inserts), pieces of copper and other assorted junk. I dug everything that gave me even a hint that there might be something good in the dirt. I suspect that someone has worked that yard over even though the home owner may not be aware of that fact.
My grand total for the three hours was three zinc pennies, Two stinking lincolns and one Canadian penny.
Having covered the entire yard I packed up and went to a local park. Six hours later I had $3.05 in clad and 23 lincolns. Got a lot of good exercise but sure was disappointed with my finds. Oh well maybe the next yard will be full of silver. Its raining today so I will have to wait a few days to hit that one. House has been in its current location since some time before 1937. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day.
