Went out this weekend for a 3hour hunt at my favorite place where I have been finding everything from Keys to silver wrist bands to wheat pennies. The watch was about 8inchs down, yeah you read correctly, 8 inchs. The detector - XT705 Gold pack, 10x5 elliptical HF coil. Auto ground balanced, auto tracking on, 25 sensitivity. No other tweeks. The area is full of trash, bottle caps, pull tabs, can slaw, nuts, bolts, bobby pins, and everything out there that is metal or metal like ( the foil in cig packs === this one really gets me, how does it pick up a tiny piece of cig pack foil 3inches in the ground) (maybe because it is awesome) Anyways, the watch case is gold filled and was made in 1928, it is an Elgin. As you can see the movements are pretty corroded but the case still looks good. I just used my finger to remove the film and I think it will polish up nicely. The crystal is a complete loss, should have used my hand but i am still not sure that i did the damage or it happend prior to being lost. In another note, I managed to find two wheaties, no pics though, 1946 NM and 1941 NM. Both look good but still only worth the two cents I put in every day at work. Happy Hunting to all.

Cool find on the watch. I think Elgin is still in business but not sure. You might send it in. You would be surprised what people will fix.
