Not Silver But.........

The iron object was about 1 inch above the locket plus there was also hot rocks all around and other melted metal of some sort. There is a lot of melted metal in this area just under the surface but I don't know what use to be here.I have searched this area for about 3 1/2 years and have found some coins and jewelry mixed in with trash.I thought the signal was just another piece of melted down metal and decided to dig because of the good signal. The piece of iron in the pic was directly above the locket and the iron never made a peep but it still detected the locket.
I was using my Trusty Whites Classic 3-SL with a 5.5 inch Ferret concentric coil and modified by Mr Bill. This setup works Super in the iron and other junk..ferrous and non-ferrous. I have found silver also with this machine and gobs of bullets and nickels and very tiny brass buttons and even smaller rivets.I didn't need a higher frequency to find them. The Classic with a small coil will do fine! I'm about dew for some more silver so I'm expecting to find some any day now!

I found out that it was originally gold plated but the one I found had been in with some other metal and it burnt the gold plating off. While it was still in the ground I thought I really had something until it came to light...But.....Ya just never know what you'll dig up next and that's what makes it so fun!
