Not much to shoot this weekend

I had a chance at some nice shots of this Tom but I blew it. He really put on a strutting show for me. The flock of turkeys popped up along the road unexpectedly and in the heat of the moment I forgot to check my camera settings. I grabbed my camera and just started shooting. Unfortunately I had left the camera in full auto mode which focuses on the closest object in the frame. Needless to say, I cropped out the perfectly focused weeds about 50 feet in front of the turkeys so you don't notice just how out of focus they really are. <img src="/metal/html/frown.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":("> I tried a few other shots of deer but I always spooked them trying to get in range. I think I may need something bigger than my 300mm lens for wildlife. Either that or I will have to build blinds and/or wear camoflage. In any case, it was a beautiful weekend to be out in the great up north.
