..............use a CZ 20 on this forum?? I realize they are similar to a CZ5 in salt mode, however, what's your thoughts about warranty, performance, etc??

I'm getting one soon because of the three tones. It should work extremely well for the application I need it for.

Thanks in advance.........see ya mark

and I use both, the 5 on land, and the 20 in the water, although I've used the 5 in the water, chest-mounted, and the 20, hipmounted, on land during a rainstorm.

Because of all the iron in the dirt here in MI, I use my CZ-5 in the SALT mode all the time, to help with the dirt. Because of that, I'm not distraught over the 20 being locked in SALT mode, as it helps with the mineralization in the freshwater beaches here.

I don't worry about the lack of a meter on the 20, as I dig anything that gives a mid- and high-tone in the water, and will often dig bouncing low-mid-high tones as well. I don't run the pinpoint while I'm in the water either, so there's no need for a depth reading on targets.

The 20 is heavy. I hipmount mine for all hunting applications at this time. However, in the water, it will float, so if you rod-mount, you don't have the weight, just the mass and water-resistance to worry about.

I have not had to send my 20 in for warranty repair work. I bought mine a few years ago, and was able to get a "demo" unit from a dealer, with the blank warranty card. If you can get a new unit, get it now, as they aren't being produced any more, and the supply of new units with warranties is dwindling.

...............Thanks for the info. I have a CZ 20 coming because the lake I will be using it in is full of small wire & iron trash. I had to park the 1280X I have due to this.

I've been using a CZ5 in the water ( chest mounted ) & only retrieving mid tone sounds.
My jewelry count has gone waaaay up using this method & that's why I'm getting a 20......besides.....I've been lucky so far by not "dunking" this CZ5. I want to get out in deeper water this summer.
I realize I'm getting a used one without warranty, but, I'm relying on the fact the Fishers are generally a rugged detector.
Good luck...........see ya mark

Ihave had the CZ 20 for about 10 years (or so it seems) now. I never have had any issues with it and have found really small theings that were over a foot down. It will always be the benchmark for me and detectors. I have used it very hard and it has fallen over countless times. The only thing I ever did was buy a new gasket and new rubber washers and screw for the coil mount. If you ever order anything from fisher get more of those rubber washers since every few years a new one is nice. THe gasket was purchased just in case since I wanted the washers and i don't think it was more than a couple bucks. My impression is that it will take a severe beating and still work, but sometimes things just break. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another and would never sell this one. I have used it as my only detector in every situation and here in lower NY and CT, balancing has never been an issue.

i bought a used 20 from my local dealer with 8" coil used it for about a month started having problems with pinpoint button sticking. (dealer said there was a batch of bad buttons) i use pinpoint to size some targets. took it back to dealer for repair, but couldn't stand to be without it for the 2 wks that would be required for repair, so traded in on new 20 with 10" coil. 2 wks is a good portion of the water hunting season here in mich. anyway love the machine would probably get the 8" coil if I had it all to do again. And probably will. hh steve
