Went detecting this morning, got up at 6:30am so that I could be at the beach by 8:00am, just before low tide.
The water woke me up though:look:

Went to a section of beach that I rarely hunt and even more rarely have any luck at.
Targets were few and far between, as you can see from the first picture below.
After hunting for about thirty minutes I got the Silver 925 with CZ's first then got the HEAVY PLAT Ring about 15 to 20 minutes later.
I hunted for another hour but rarely even got a signal much less that gold ring I was huntin for....Oh Well...I guess Platinum will have to do.

But seriously, a big load has been lifted, all I've been thinking about for the last two months is will I get another Platinum this year or was it just beginners luck last year. Now that I've got that under my belt...now I just have to concentrate on finding about 50 pieces of gold.

See all the stuff I dug!

Here's a pic of the one I found last year, they look just alike...Except for the one this year is a little heavier.

Dam..your arm must be falling off...thats one heavy ring...is platinum heavier than gold....Just curious.....I am gonna find my first this year..I know I can feel it....they are getting popular and many finds have been popping up....How can I not?.......always go out with a positive attitude and it will happen......Nice find.....Congrates :super:

OUTATIME, you are in platinum time and right now, that's the place to be! I ran a Dendritics calculation for you on the 2 rings, assuming they are 950 PT and came up with $1818. Not too trashy there mate! You are in the BLACK, fo sho! WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OBTW, you are living right, you DEFINITELY need to be in church in the morning!

The specific gravity of gold is 19.3 platinum is 21.5 so yes platinum is heavier. Dan

Lucky bugger i have not got near any platinum , here in auz , you are blessed by the platnium fairies .Keep on swinging ,Cheers Craig.

Even though the difference in specific gravity between gold and plat is only 2.2 the plat always seems so much heavier in a ring. Plat is .950 purity and gold is on average14k or roughly 60% with silver and copper fillers.
The Plat looks great on ya!

Congrats,

BDA:cool:

Normally I don't even bother looking at the markings on a ring while I am detecting, I just throw all the finds in the same pocket and sort it out later.
When I found this ring it just felt different, so I checked it out and sure enough PLAT. I didn't want to drop this ring so I pulled my wet suit down and put it in the pocket of my swimsuit for EXTRA PROTECTION !! No sense in losing a ring twice:look:

Happy Huntin

I've been checking out watches that will give you the tides, I've got a Casio but it's not very accurate and you have to press too many buttons to see what the tides will be in the future. This one looks pretty good.

Anybody else got a tide watch??

Don't count on it klopek, been looking for PT since '04. Heard of 2 pieces in these parts. Purty rare, maybe we need to go see OUTATIME, he's 2 for 2!

I'm telling you, Mate; it's all about hunting the right beaches for platinum. You've got to increase your percentage chance of finding that elusive metal. High End Hotel Beaches and beaches that are popular with Asians where platinum has been popular for much longer than in North America. 4 platinum in 2 years of waterhunting and they were all from high end beaches. Ask Ken, he'll tell ya it's so.

Good Hunting Mate,
