I'VE BEEN HUNTING WITH THE ACE 250 WITH THE STANDARD COIL FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS.I HAD READ THAT A LARGER COIL WOULD GO DEEPER AND FIND COINS THE SMALLER COIL WOULD LEAVE.SO I ORDERED A 9X12 COCENTRIC COIL ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO.ONLY HAD A COUPLE TIMES TO GET OUT BUT HAVE ONLY FOUND BOTTLE CAPS AND JUNK.I'M HUNTING TWO OLD HOMESITES THAT I HAVE HUNTED MANY TIMES WITH THE ACE 250.ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS I AM THE ONLY ONE THATS EVER HUNTED THESES TWO HOME SITES.ONE WAS BUILT IN THE LATE 1800S.I HAVE FOUND SILVER OLD BUTTONS AND OTHER COOL FINDS BUT NOTHING WITH THE NEW COIL.A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED AND JUST WONDERING,IS THE BIGGER COIL REALLY BETTER OR ABOUT THE SAME?OR IS THERE A DIFFERENT LEARNING CURVE?THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP IN ADVANCE.HOPE TO GET ME A AT PRO SOMETIME LATER BUT FOR NOW,GOTTA KEEP BANGING WITH THE ACE.HH:sadwalk:

It's basically the same, just bigger. It should be doing 2-3 inches deeper than the stock coil.
But you need to crank the sensitivity up to really get full performance. With mine, it feels
like it's being stunted if I run say only halfway on sens. So I always crank it as high as the
ground will let me. You may have just hit a spot that didn't have much. You could stick a coin
up on a box, and air test the two coils to compare. It will also show you the difference when
cranking the sens.
You can also just wave coins back and forth under the coils to test. That will let you know if
it's working normally. I would compare both coils, and do a few comparisons on found targets
with both coils if possible. If the stock coil finds something, the 9x12 should get it too.
And some finds on the deep edges of the 9x12 should be unobtainium with the stock coil.

THANKS NM5K I DID DO AN AIR TEST WHEN I FIRST AND IT SEEMED TO GET A COUPLE MORE INCHES.I WILL TRY IT AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION AND SEE HOW IT DOES.I CAN TELL IT'S QUITE A BIT HEAVIER THAN THE STOCK COIL.THANKS AGAIN.I GUESS I WAS HOPING TO FIND SMOTHING THE STOCK COIL MISSED.

Therre is always the possibility that THERE ISN'T ANYTHING there.
Trying a different location is probably the best bet. My only complaint about
the 9x12 was that it is heavy. Otherwise mine worked fine.

Did something happen that made you decide to change besides what you explained in the earlier posts?

No I have been researching some of the other machines and thought I would try another brand just to see how they compare. The Ace 250 is the only machine I've ever land hunted with.Iuse to have a excaliber 800 to water hunt with but sold it after a couple of years.MISTAKE.But I cant afford an etrac so I just want to see what one of the other brands will do.HH:detecting:
