not a good detecting day

for the last few days I have been going around the blocks detecting the strip between the sidewalk and the road, it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to go around the whole block, I have my detector set for coins, today all I found was 3 pennys after searching around 2 blocks.

Still was a good day, you were able to get out of the house and do something you enjoy.... It is like fishing you never know.

Everyone is right, we all have days like that and if we didn't once in a while, the hobby would be far less challenging and fun. Don't give up on those boulevards though, they can be a literal treasure trove and the next strip just might harbor a nice ring or coin. HH jim tn

Oh yes!! We all have days like that. I remember going to my favorite park in Utah and finding nothing at all. Going back another day and find silver after silver and wondering if they just came to the surface!!

I think a few reasons account for this. Sometimes our mindset. Thinking about life instead of concentrating on the signals, or hearing the noise around you so you can't concentrate. Or just plain not scanning where the coins are!!

Anyway you got out, got some exercise, was probably able to relax and think of nothing, and THAT is almost worth not finding anything.

I repair computers all day and when I get under the water I don't have to think about anything, relax and hear the beeps!! Good luck and keep trying. It is a great hobby to get away from the world.

Open up the discriminator more. You will be surprised how many targets you will miss if you run your discriminator too high! I don't know what your other programs are called, but if one is (coin and jewelry) use it. Also increase your Pre Amp and Sensitivity a bit. Could be that that area has been hit by someone else or has just recently been built. If not, the I'd try what I said and rescan it slower and see what you are missing. If it's an old area and no one has hit it, I'm positive you are missing things. Good luck.

i just had a day like that yesterday....all i got was 2 nickels after searching the park. go figure.it happens

I have mine set so that if I hear a chirping type sound I know that it is a nail or something, when I hit a ring or a coin (or sometimes a pop tab) it give a good strong beep.
