It looks like a head of an angel overlooking an open book with a star over her head. I tried to google it but I had too vague of keywords. Is there any information on the back? Is it a pin or a badge? And what type of metal? It looks as if there may be something stamped on the raised area above and left of the star but the pic does not show it good enough to tell.

Very good! I think you are getting close....The metal is very thin......there is nothing on the back as far as pin or badge etc. The left side appears to be the same as the right. I will try to take a better pic later.

Thank all! It does "seem" to appear to have some religious nature but also the olds pic above is similar too.
The metal is paper thin so it was either stripped off a heavier metal or it was possibly on a book or something. I will take another pic when I get home.

If you look closely, the star and "HEAD" are parts of a spur. Also, where yours has an open book, The Olds emblems have acorns. This is some info I found....
Olds used this emblem from 1929 to 1948. 'The Winged Spur emblem included many elements symbolizing Oldsmobile's increasing prominence in the automobile industry. The winged spur at its center represented harnessing horsepower; the acorns acknowledged Oldsmobile as a seed that helped grow the automobile industry. Also included is the Lamp of Knowledge, a micrometer and triangle signifying research, exactness and precision. This crest would be modified and used on various models and hub caps through 1948.
But after looking at many Olds emblems, I cannot find any that look like yours. Although, its very close. I just doubt Oldsmobile would make something so different than their own design. Maybe its a company trying to copy it without enfringement issues. Perhaps its from a "Pedal Car" trying to look like an Olds?
