Spent the afternoon back in the woods searching for the missing pieces of the shotgun I found last week. Again...the ACE 250/Sniper Coil and GTI 1500/Stock Imaging Coil were my weapons of choice. No such luck......however, not more then 10 feet from the site where I found the shotgun barrel I found this.

Darned if I didn't find another gun. This was a toy one, and quite old at that. I only found one penny, a 1947
and an empty old tin for some kind of medicine tablets and a canning jar lid....a welcome find as those were often brought to picnic areas before there was television. The area was so thick that at times I had to nearly crawl to get from one detected area to another.

Of course I couldn't refuse a tot lot stop on the way home, especially since I only found one penny earlier in the afternoon. Got over 5 bucks and a nice bracelet with a couple of hearts on it. Darned if the sand wasn't frozen. Rather then chance a broken bracelet trying to pull it out of the sand.....I just took some sand home with me, set it in a glass of hot water and moments later the bracelet freed itself.

Now I don't believe in the "scaries" in the dark, but I knew it was a full moon tonite and I just didn't want to be wandering around the woods by myself in the dark. Here is a pic of the moon taken from my driveway as soon as I got home.

Another fine day it was with a detector in my hands.................

That is so cool...another gun...antique by the looks of it to.

I think I've got the story figured out on the shotgun.:nerd:

It goes like this:blink:.... you stumbled on an old hunting camp and one day dad took along junior for his first hunt. Junior brought his gun and if dad missed the rabbit he'd get it with his six shooter. :razz:Dad saw a big jack rabbit jump out in front of him and let off one shot and missed and swung around to take one more shot and missed again....too many trees:shrug:. Junior pulled his six shooter out and missed as well and started crying. Dad was upset now cause he missed the rabbit and now junior is bawling like mad.:yikes:Dad had a good day and was already carrying several bunnys and a pheasant and just had to much stuff:surprised:.Dad can't carry junior out of this thick brush because the gun has no sling and it would be in the way:sadwalk:. So what does dad do? He takes the gun apart and takes the short pieces and stuffs them in his game bag.:look:He leaves the barrel sitting up beside a tree and makes a mental note to come back for it after he takes care of junior. Junior sees dad leave part of his gun so junior throws his gun down as well.......why not..... dad did:rolleyes:.
Anyhow dad gets back to camp and the old lady was waiting. She scolded him :argue:for keeping junior out so late and in the heat of the argument dad totally forgets about his barrel. Sixty years later John in search of the golden fleece :detecting:finds the shotgun and learns the story.......from junior....that would be me:lol:....who had a dad who took his son hunting with a six shooter.

Oh yah......my dad didn't take the gun apart...I made that part up.:rofl::rofl::clapping::clap::lol::drinking::goodnight:
