Northern Shenandoah Valley - Virginia

Is anybody on the forum currently living and/or hunting the Northern Shenandoah Valley, VA? I live in the Front Royal / Winchester area, and wanted to know if there are other CTX users in the area who might want to meet up and trade stories. Just curious.

Yes it is! I love living here. And we have so many more years of history compared to the rest of the country. How many other sections of the country can you dig colonial artifacts one day and civil war the next?!?! The possibilities are almost endless.

I used to live in Fairfax VA for 7 years and so I had the joy to discover most of Virginia. I never had the opportunity to metal detect there though.

Erick, that would probably be a big portion of the eastern seaboard. How many years extra of history does it have? If it's a lot more than the rest of the country I may have to travel down there since the only things I can find up here in the Hudson Valley are Revolutionary ,Civil War, and colonial items.

LoL GKMan! You stay up there, I don't want you coming down here and finding all my goodies!! But you are right, I should have said the eastern half, especially the states bordering the ocean, of the US has more to offer in terms of really old metal relics than the western half.

well if you are in my area I will take you to one of my old spot if you return the favor if I'm down there

Absolutely GKMan! Anytime you come my way, shout out, I would be happy to go take you hunting.

I just got permission 30 minutes ago to hunt around a very old (150 years +) Baptist Church. The caretaker said it is documented that it was used as a hospital during the Battle of Front Royal. I walked around and saw a few old stone foundations and what was left of the stone fences around the property. I can't wait to check it out. The caretaker told me several years ago a couple of guys hunted it, but they didn't find anything other than rusty nails, it looks like my 6" coil is going to get a work out.
