Northern California Gold nugget hunting

GAdigger

New member
Have seen many people using MDs in the deserts (Arizona, Nevada and California) to look for gold nuggets. But has anyone used detectors in Northern California to look for gold? I am considering buying an unpatented claim there. Is there any chance to find gold by detecting or only by dredging and panning? If so, what detectors would you recommend. Thanks in advance for your help. I am a newbie.

Looking for raw gold in it's form, coin hunting, and water hunting are all totally different animals. while one can succeed in finding coins in a park as a coin hunter,One may not be so successful at finding things in the water or finding Gold in it's natural form. If you are going to look for gold using a metal detector you should check into a metal detector that is made for finding gold. This is why some people have a closet or an area in their home just for their metal detectors as they have a BUNCH. Depending on your budget will not hold you back. I started many years ago at a Garage sale for $ 40 and it paided for it's self. Since that time I have had most metal detectors pay for another. You do not have to buy the most expensive one to start out, but get one that is made for what you are going to do.
May I suggest you check into a book also called Zip zip as there are some good points in there.
