Anyone have locations that are ok to gold metal detect around the foothills?
Coarsegold, Oakhurst, and North Fork? Or secondly do you have (or can
I get ) a map showing areas that are ok to prospect in those general areas?
Coarsegold creek is mostly someone's dumping area for bottle caps and
old bean cans, and Poison Switch is getting that way.
Thanks
Tom

You might get "The Tertiary Gravels of the Sierra Nevada of California" by Waldemar Lindgren it is from the Dept. of the Interior United States Geological Survey. The area you are mentioning seems to be at it's southern extreme. It is an older publication but gives an idea what was happening when most commercial gold prospecting was soon to end.
