Nor'easters

Can someone explain what happens to an east coast beach during and after a nor'easter? We currently have N/NE winds @ 20mph with gust near 35mph. Yesterday it appeared to me that the beach was starting to cut. Today at a 611pm Low tide, the cuts were only 2' -3' with mushy sand at the base. The "lane" was almost flat instead of the usual slope to the surf and was pretty hard. Lows tide tomorrow is around 700am. The winds should still be sustained 20mph w/ 25-30mph NNE gust tomorrow. I have to work tomorrow, but I'm going by to look at it. I noticed before it too dark to see, there was almost a 1' ripple of sand showing as the tide was all the way out. My question: is the beach eroding. or filling up? I can't tell.
