I woke up late and missed the low tide but I went anyway as I need the practice. Nothing but clad and junk for 3 hours so I decided to try the dry sand on my way back to the car, low and behold a 1942 mercury dime right where you would never think to look for it and only about 3 inch deep. This beach is probably the most pounded beach in north America. In my shocked state I called over to a lady detectorist (Patsy) to share in my good fortune and neglected to find out if she was a member here. Here's my pics. HH

I'm hunting with an excal II and my fifth hunt, I detected as a kid with a "radio shack" style machine a couple times but never took any time to learn what I was doing.
