I've had my etrac for a few months now and am still learning.I started off hunting relics but the last month i've been coin shooting more. I found another mercury dime today which is my second in the last three hunts. I'm digging deeper iffy signals and am being rewarded with lots of older wheats. Its a matter of getting my coil over silver now to find it.today I pulled a nail and a wheatie out of the same hole. I've been using the stock coin mode.

I finally loaded some patterns tonight. Andys, bills, and another and I'll start playing with them. One thing I have to do is start digging lower tones. I've been digging mostly high for silver and haven't spent too much time digging lower and my nickel count has suffered, along with any chance of finding gold.

I'm digging deeper as I run my sensitivity up to 29 and not having a pinpointer has been very stressfull. I gave up on one today because it just plain wore me out. I was in a park and had a small trowel. I ordered a sunray probe so things should get easier and much faster soon.

I look forward to seeing how those patterns perform to tomorrow. The etrac is a great machine.

You will wonder how you have made it without the Sun-Ray probe. I have a Garrett hand held for a couple of machines that Sun- Ray does'nt have a probe for and there is a world of difference. Sounds like you are doing just fine. I use my E-Trac for relics also, sometimes EMI just overwhelms my other machines. Not enough credit given for the E-Tracs ability in relic hunting. HH :minelab:

Great report! The Minelab E-Trac is one amazing machine for sure! Best silver and coin machine I have ever used!

Note for others considering an E-Trac:

It is a very powerfull machine that is pretty easy to set up. Once you get familiar with it there isn't that many settings to tweak. The biggest challenge imo is learning the language. This machine emits a lot of sound during a sweep which can be a little overwhelming at first. But as your ear gets tuned and accustomed to the noises, you will soon start recognizing the good sounds as they "reach out" to you. This machine makes its money telling you that there is something worth investigating amongst the trash. Slow down, tighten your sweep at different angles, and watch the display give you a momentary snapshot of the good target. You will correlate all of this info into a decision to dig and, from what I have seen so far in my short time is, the machine is pretty accurate.

I ordered my sunray yesterday from Bart @ BigBoysHobbies. He's good people!
