I am brand new to E-trac. Have been swinging a X-70 for the past year or so. I was at a local park were I could not dig every signal and came across several targets that sounded good - repeatable solid sounding signal reading 35-47. Since this was a long way from the 11-13 ferrous reading for most good targets I was not willing to dig a hole until I had a better idea if the target was likely good.

Any of you experienced user care to share what might ring in that range???

With a conductive number like that I would have dug!! I have had alot of good targets come in that way when there is a rejected target close to it!! If I were you and they sounded good I would be going back and digging.. Cause I would be willing to bet that those are coins with a pull tab or screw cap over, under, or beside them! Another thing that I have found is depth will really make a reading appear alot different.. Just food for thought :0) I would be interested in hearing what they turn out to be if you do dig them???

. . . . . I'd say you hit a solid rusted piece of iron. The FE=35 value is the giveaway. CO=47 is getting high on the scale and good targets that have a CO of 47 will start to ride higher in the FE scale; i.e., silver half. Try rejecting FE "29" to "35" and that should eliminate the iron readings you are getting.

I don't know about the E=Trac, But i have dug numerous $1 and $2 Australian coins at FE30 - CON 30 at about 8-9 inches , This is why i don't worry about the FE numbers anymore, I just concentrate on the sound and use the Conductive numbers as a guide. The E-Trac has shown FE numbers in the high 20's as well but not as often. I would dig it and see/

I have had many targets with crazy numbers in the FE but the CO numbers were always right on or really close to right on! And it usually is when there is trash in the whole with a good target.

I have been finding that with the CO number that high with the ferrous numbers I will recheck it from different angles trying to get a ferrous of 11-18 before I dig. I also notice if I am in the coin pattern and get a iffy 11-18 ferrous than go to quick mask they will always read high in ferrous, but have been coins close to iron and feel when going to quick mask you see more of the iron.
Also I seen the wrap around where the ferrous is high then goes to 1 which is also a good sign of iron. i find my coins I seem to get maybe the 30 numbers and by working them a bit in factory coin mode they will run from 11-18 more then the high numbers in the 30s and if they stay in the 30s and then go to 1 I know it is iron.
