Non-Garrett junk-et...

Some questions came up about the Tesoro Golden uMax, over on the ... well, elsewhere. You know me, by now - I hadda add my 2 cents worth (in my case, more like about 58 cents worth!)

So, all that talk about the Golden meant only one thing: I had to take it out for a spin today, leaving the Garretts home to pout.

Nut but tot-lot gots, but it was short hunt - all I ask for is a little tecting time. Im easy to please.

I learned a bit more about the detector and had a nice reunion with Ol' Goldy. One of the things I learned was how much I have come to rely on an accurate, multi-level ID system, as found on the 1350.

Dave, when you refer to the Multi Level ID system, were you talking about the Profiling or TID?

Actually, I was referring to ALL the methods the 1350 uses:

1. VID, via the graphic display **
2. TID, or tone ID **
3. Tone length **
3. Profiling

** I break the ID Suystem down into it's components, here for clarity.

It is very easy to fall into the subtle lure of the ID System on the 1350. It's good to either step away, as in today's case, or to turn it all off and go "naked."

Thanks for clarifying that, Dave. Over this past year I've been working on listening first to the Ace, then checking the ID for verification, if necessary. Usually I am now guessing correctly before checking the ID, so I believe I've made some progress.

That's why the GTP-1350 is so appealing to me, in that it appears to operate very similar to my Ace 250. Just with more options, but not options that take an engineering degree to understand:nerd:

You have hit the proverbial "nail on the head," Dickie old boy. Believe it or not, there is little more I can add.....
