Hi All you gold digger, I live in KY, not much gold here but i dig like a groundhog. I have about a oz. so far, not bad for a state that is not to have gold. OK the ?, Has anyone been to the GPAA camp at Nome? Can a man that digs like a GH, find about 1/2 his money back? I know that most of the trip is to be experiences but i can,t afford it if i don,t get about 1/2 back. I was thinking about 2 weeks, one week to kill myself and the other to recoup. What do you all think, can i do it? Thanks for all replies, Flintstone

If you can't afford to do it unless you make half your expenses back do not do it. Period.

It is not that it cannot be done but it is a poor bet if you really can't afford the trip otherwise.

Steve, I can afford it, it just seam i hate to spend money that i can,t get about 1/2 of my money back. Just like buying metal detectors, when i buy one, if i don,t like it i half to get at least 1/2 my money back or i feel bad about what i have done. I would have though some of these guys would have been there before

I've talked with a number of guys who have gone and not one has come anywhere close to getting even half of their money back in the form of recovered gold.

Based on that you probably would feel bad after going. Most guys I have talked to go for the experience, to see Alaska, to have fun digging with their fellow prospectors, to enjoy the wide open country, etc. I think everyone gets some gold, but a couple grams is the typical take (this would be probably something in the range 5 to 10% of their cost).

Remember thousands of guys have come before you and dug at this camp since they started doing tours their in the 1980s.
