Nokta Simplex review...

Thanks John for making this video. I could not agree more on the Simplex. Great features, great performance and a really nice overall detector that should cost hundreds of dollars more. Unlike you, I tested mine in highly mineralized soil and it performed extremely well for a single frequency VLF. It had plenty of depth but more importantly it had excellent target ID accuracy on targets in the surface to 6" range. All single frequency VLFs really struggle with massive up averaging of VDIs where I detect, even on 3" targets!!! I have tested dozens of mid to high end single frequency VLFs and it doesn't matter what they cost. They all do it where I detect and most lose 1/3 or more of depth too. The Simplex had only minor up averaging and most low to mid conductor targets stayed in the correct tone bin for their conductivity unlike the others. So, congrats to Nokta Makro.

I have heard that the Simplex platform will be the platform for their multi frequency detector too.

The simplex is just wrecking the detector market. I wish companies would publish sales for their top models. The simplex has to be number 1 on the planet. It’s the best money you can spend on a machine dollar for dollar.
The big downside for us serious Detectorists here, is that we have many machines and now can’t sell them. Because a simplex is cheap, and will outperform all but the top 3 or 4 popular models. So used gear is left worth nothing. Even NM’s own machines are worth nothing. Now an experienced person who wants full adjustable features has to spend around 500 bucks over the cost of a simplex and not get much more performance but just to get adjustability and frequencies. Everything is out of balance because of the simplex.

I've been 'reviewing' the Simplex + for almost a year now, updating my detector group with a 2nd Simplex + the first of June, and both have a very solid place in my Detector Group. My first keeps the stock 11" DD coil mounted because it works so well and gets surprising depth when I take it into the open grassy parks, the plowed fields and ranch-land, and other places with a low to modest amount of trash. My 2nd Simplex + is in my Daily-Use Team that rides on my back seat with their 5X9½ DD coil mounted, and time-after-time I have demonstrated its performance in various sites against friend's models that are in the upper-end price range .... and they struggle to try and match the Simplex + performance.

I get very decent coin-depth performance even in the higher-mineralized places i generally hunt, and only have a couple of models that might provide me a bit more depth-of-detection .... if needed, and seldom it is. Working this device w/5X9½ DD in very littered modern sites is absolutely fantastic, and it's great to be able to make quick mode-changes, when desired, that all work so well.

The operating frequency of 12 kHz is ideal and for a general-purpose detector, and I am trusting the Nokta / Makro SMF device will be patterned after the excellent configuration and balance of the Simplex +. No doubt it will also be a serious game-changer for a lot of people. As it is, I have hunted with people who check out my Simplex + and worked why they paid what they did, and bought what they recently bought, after seeing the level of quality and field performance of this unit. What Nokta / Makro has brought to the industry is absolutely fantastic with impressive model progression.

The only thing we really need now is an excellent smaller-size coil to better handle some of the tough challenges out there, at least where I typically hunt.

Hola, estoy pensando en comprarme un detector Nokta Simplex o Equinox 800, ¿cuál es el mejor?
I mean, if you got the money and are already experienced, the Equinox 800 is ultimately more versatile but maybe not “better” all the time. Both would be nice, huh!?

Hey Cal, Id love to see you test all your detectors in that nasty chunk of Penn. dirt that someone sent you. That would be interesting.
Love your vids.
