NOKTA Golden Sense

Okay guys, just had my daughter take pictures of my finds from a road trip to the north west with the NOKTA Golden Sense. This thing is deep on targets with the boot puller coming out of the ground at over 2 feet with a solid signal. It was in a rocky wash, I knew it was iron before I dug it but it was in a really cool place and I wanted to see everything that sounded off. I did find my fair share of iron junk as I was digging every target to further try to learn this machine. The two cartridges appear to be 45-70, the little hook is silver, the tooth and small nugget are gold and the larger silver colored nugget is "PLATINUM". The machine is operated in all metals and then switched over to descriminate to check the target. Large iron will sometimes ring as non-ferrous but am learning that even if the light indicates non-ferrous, the sound gives it away. The small nuggets came from around 9-10 inches deep and I am so anxious to get back up there for a few weeks of swinging the detector.

Will be returning to the area early summer as the cold weather drove me off. I live in Florida and am not used to extreme cold weather any more as it aggravates the heck out of chemo-therapy induced neuropathy in my feet and hands. Found some small gold while panning but my fingers hurt so bad from the cold water that I couldn't keep it up. Caught a few cutthroat and brook trout and generally had a great time.

that sounds like a good deep machine , just can not aford one now.

It is deep and oh so simple. None of the bells and whistles you get with White's or Minelab and that took some getting used to. Turn on to all metals, descriminate or iron off and adjust sensitivity and then ground balance and you are off and running.

Those are awesome finds!!! Two feet deep? Remind me not to go behing you with my detector!!!!!
What state were you in?

That's awesome two feet, But I am in no shape to dig the deep everytime you get a great signal...I would hv to hire somebody from a temp agency to dig the holes...lol...great finds...congrats. (KCH)

The boot puller at 2 feet came out of a dry wash in Nevada...almost to the California border. I had pulled some cartridges, buttons and a powder flask in that area before along with some gold and stopped to check it again on the way back. The rest of the stuff including the nuggets, panned gold and trout came from Montana. Anybody else on here nugget shooting in Montana? Anyone find any platinum? Would love to get with someone from the area for a little longer hang time in warmer weather.

When running the Nokta in all metals and properly balanced and tuned it will pick up some deep targets. I've left a few in the ground myself. At first I would dig and go over the hole thinking the detector was falsing and give up after I had dug so far it was embarrassing. One day early on I got down deep and was just about to give up when I passed the pinpointer into the hole and barely got a click...click...from the Garrett pinpointer I use. Removed some more dirt and the signal got stronger on the pinpointer..finally a little more and got my target. It was nothing good but it was deep and metal and an indication of the capabilities of this machine, so from then on unless in a place where I can't excavate like that I dig the target until I find it.

Will more than likely swing west to the Rye Patch in Nevada and when I've had a gut full then turn northward to Montana. I just love it out west and at 112 degrees in Death Valley area am more comfortable than here in Florida at 72 degrees with this damned high humidity.

I was going to make some suggestions to NOKTA but see that they have already taken steps to improving the design and mounting in a new series they've put out. I think this detector is ideal for relic hunting and prospecting. I have found a few coins in hammered areas here in Panama City and Appalachicola as well but think a smaller coil and more practice with pinpointing would be in order. When coin shooting I normally run it in descriminate or iron ignore.

Still need more practice. Going to an old homesite on Chipola river today.

2 feet ilhan, not two meters..:detecting: Two meters I had better have a backhoe and there had better be a chest full of Spanish gold!
