Noise at the end of swing with Sand Shark

My new sand shark works good in the wet sand sounding out loud when it is over metal, my question is at the end of the swing with the coil held low to the ground i get a medium, sound like a target but it isn't . I had an Infinium that did the same thing.

I run it on the VCO with pulse width at recommended setting and the threshold at just a low buzz.

Is this normal for the Sand Shark? Most reviews say that this unit is real steady and quiet. Im using it on California beaches where there is not a lot of black sand.

Has any one had the same problem and is there a cure for it.

Mine is the same. Slow the sweep down and there is not as much of a change in speed at the end of the sweep and it will be quieter. And with a little slow down in the sweep, you will get a little deeper on targets.

I used mine today for the first time, but at a fresh water beach. I keep the coil low to the ground, make slow overlapping sweeps, it worked very well, I am impressed by this low cost detector. I used in in VCO mode and I like that too, I get a good idea by the sound of the depth and size of the target.

I have not used it on salt water beaches, perhaps it has something to do with salt water.

That is what i will do, i was real surprised how well balanced the unit is with the controls under the elbow.

Thanks for your help tvr will keep you informed on how it goes.

This detector is so versatile, can be hip mounted, or the control box mounted to your liking many different ways. The middle shaft can be removed for diving. I had a Tiger Shark and used it for rainy day detecting. They are great detectors.
