No Waterproof White's TDI - Official Word 2/19/13

Quote from Carl Moreland of White's today on another forum:

"I need to squash these rumors of a "waterproof TDI," no such thing is in development. What I'm working on (and it's my personal project) is an all-new PI design that discriminates. The basics are working, but it's still further out than I'd like. Sorry, no dates. New waterproof case is ready, though."

All new PI design that discriminates? I am sure that will get a lot of attention. But I will point out that most of the PI detectors on the market feature some form of discrimination, so I would not read too much into that. At least a new waterproof case is in the wings.

Hhmmmm - sounds like their trying to build an Infinium?! Or, just trying to catch up with the PI/DISC market. "An all new PI machine that discriminates"? This will be one to watch for - "all new" that's interesting! Is there a PI machine out there, other than the ML machines, that beats the Finny? If the only thing us Finny owners have to complain about is the dual tone thing (which is a first responder form of disc) then this new White's PI machine is going to have to have some real power to get my attention. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that clumsy S shaft that comes on the Finny. Garrett needs to wake up and give some attention to us civilians.

A waterproof case? Now what could that be for? His personal project machine? The TDI SL? Or the "full size" TDI? He doesn't say which it's for. Hopefully it's for the SL being the smaller box. And I wonder how deep it's waterproof for? Shallow water or deep diving? Whatever it is, it should be of some interest.
Also, there are rumors that a new pinpointer is coming out too to compete with the Garrett. Of course, it's supposed to be better so look for that too.

Just work out a way to put a ferrous checker on there. Yeah, I already know all the comments that would follow such a statement, but I still would like one of some sort.

I think it is too bad that White's doesn't build a waterproof TDI SL. We know it is needed. I believe they do also. Marv
