No wall adapter included....

The wall adapter for charging is not included...
Too bad they couldn't have thrown it in.. I know most of us probably have twenty of them lying around, but I will start looking for one that matches what they say. >1.7A @ 5V.

"The charge time from completely flat to 100% is approximately 4
hours when a high capacity (>1.7A @ 5V) charger is used. Car and
wall charging accessories are available for separate purchase.
A'ny standard USB port compatible with USB battery charging 1.2
(BC1.2) can be used to charge your battery, how"

geez thats pretty pathetic for $800 cant throw in a charger? disappointing

According to some of the data I see, an Iphone charger is 1A and 5v, but an Ipad is 2.1A at 5 v. So, if one uses the Ipad wall charger at 2.1A, will it harm the Equinox battery (get hot) or just charge it a bit faster? Some of the data I read says a standard pc usb is about 1a and 5V so it would take a bit longer I asume. I recall reading somewhere also that the standard USB charger rating is 1.5a 5v.

Like most others I have not charged my Equinox battery yet, or the WM8, or assembled the detector, or turned it on! Fact is, I havent seen the machine YET, Minelab!!

It is only a minor inconvenience. Will probably have to pay $20 for a $2 adapter if we decided to go with the official Minelab branded one. Which I probably won't. I probably won't be connecting my Equinox to my laptop to charge each night just too get the right amount of amps and volts either. I'll just dig through my pile of chargers.

Thats what I read in the manual.. Hopefully I'm wrong!

Looks like you get the cable, but no wall charger. Scroll down to page 62 of the owner's manual and it will tell you what kind of charger to buy: 2A, 5+V. I just got one off ebay for less than $7. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Original-Samsung-OEM-USB-Wall-Charger-Data-Sync-Cable-For-Galaxy-S5-Note-3/253056621480?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=552127215409&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Thanks for the link. I just ordered one.

Not sure if this is information from a box opening or what? Forgive me for not trusting much i hear at this place at this time.

I would think it would be an indefensible position for them not to include a wall/home charger at the correct wattage/voltage so that people specifically don't go using any charger at any rating out there.

It would also be a different scenario if the control head of this thing came off the stick with ease like a Deus controller and could sit on the desk next to your laptop. But if you have to put the hole thing on your desk to connect a standard short usb cable I'm going to chuckle deep. How else should we react to that news?

It will take 18 hours to charge the Equinox if using a port on your computer. It takes 4 hours with the proper wall charger per the manual.

Thanks for the link! If I buy one I wouldn't skimp on price or quality. I've seen some weird and wacky results from cheap adapters before. I would probably hook it up to a meter to see what it's putting out.

Woo Hoo, my "adaptive fast charging" wall charger for my ipad is rated at "5.0 volt 2.0 amp". Not only that, but, I have a extra back-up one, guess I'm all set. However, it would have been nice for Minelab to have provided a wall charger.

Looks like I'll be using the one that came with my Deus.

I ordered a couple replacement samsung 5v2A chargers without cords from the old Amazon. I can always use extras for my phone anyway.

Smart move. Our external storage drves at WD had to either have targeted sales regions and packaging based on power adapter or include a kit of a bunch of plug adapters. All added extra costs.

If they provided a wall charger, the detector might have cost of $2,000.00 rather than $899.00.

If a wall charger thats not
a Minelab brand should damage the detector , would Minelab still warranty it?

I can't believe no charger is included . That information must be wrong. These things cost a dollar , maybe 2 dollars to buy in bulk surely they must include a charger , i would be shocked if a piece of equipment costing many hundreds of dollars / pounds has no charger included.

hmm just usb cable

Any USB-wall Iphone/Ipad charger will work.

No, I urge you to look at page 62 in the user's manual. https://www.minelab.com/__files/f/326548/4901-0249-1%20Inst.%20Manual,%20EQUINOX%20600%20800%20EN.pdf
Here's the warning:
"DO NOT USE a mid-capacity USB charger.
For example, using a reputable and certified
USB charger (e.g. Apple™ or Samsung™), rated at
1A @ +5V, the USB charger will typically engage its thermal
protection safety function and automatically shut-down - the
detector may NOT charge fully.
A non-certified and sub-standard USB charger, rated at 1A @
+5V may NOT have a safety function and could overheat and
potentially fail completely"
