Come to find out the speaker connector had worked loose at the circuit board. The plastic spring clip built into the connector did not have enough tension to keep it in place.

Hi;
This happened to me once before. Apparently it has something to do with the wiring and proximity to headphone jack port or battery pocket.
Try taking out the batteries and replacing them.
I knocked it around a bit (lightly) and it worked and hasn't happened again.
I also had a problem with it switching off by itself during this time. My headphone cable is too short and caused the port to tilt a bit when I put too much pull on the cable. I ended up putting a piece of balloon neck - cut off a small water balloon- over the jack and pushing it up to the shoulder so the jack is restrained slightly from going all the way in. This worked for me.

Yeah. I had this happen to my X30 as well. Sent it back to Minelab for a warranty job a couple of months ago. It's good as gold now.
It was just a loose connection.
Mick Evans.
