At least not yet when it comes to rings with the Aces. Got out for a little while late today just before dark, and got another handful of clads and this little ring at the local high school using some of Clive's wisdom from his "DFX Gold Methods" book.

Hallmarked 10K with a nice red garnet center stone flanked by two small diamonds, and bounced between high foil and nickel on the 250. Almost expected it to be an old buffalo. So far at least, I've yet to take either the 150 or 250 out for a spin without finding at least one or two rings, whether costume or otherwise. That's the beauty of a good notching machine compared to straight progressive discrimination. Instead of just shooting for coins anymore, I feel like Forest Gump and his box of chocolates all over again...... :)

Now that's purty Ralph. Better watch out or you'll have that Mustard Monster paid for before you know it.

is that the water book?

No, the book I'm referring to is "DFX Gold Methods". Great bunch of "how-to" information for hunting gold jewelry on land, and gives you some ideas that really get the creative juices flowing as far as thinking through good hunt locations. It gets you thinking about possibilities you may have not considered before. It's based on the White's DFX for the most part, but it can easily be applied to any good VDI detector. Great read, and just one ring will more than pay for the knowledge gained. Contains some "technical theories" that are a bit out in left field IMO, but the general theme is very well presented.
