Had to head away from the oceanfront today...too painful down there. Enough to make a man
So Ina and Darren and me met up at 3:30 AM for a little trip to try some river hunting. It's a bit more work...I spent 5 hours in the water with the Excal submersed the whole time. The targets weren't exactly numerous, but they beat the daylights out of Virginia Beach at the moment. The Excal performed like a champ. In fact, all THREE OF THEM did! The recoveries were tough but do-able because of the "no waves" thing...that's cool, not having to fight the surf. This is still salt water, so the coins show it. And there was a lot more trash, but the goodies were there too.
We all spent much time in the water...starting well before dawn and going until well after. And though we all did well, Ina kicked both of our butts, scoring gold, silver AND diamonds. And ruby. The girl is on fire with that new Excal!
Here is my "nut"...I got an 18K gold men's band and a silver ring. Two of Ina's rings are in this post, before I cleaned them up. We'll get to those in another post...too many pics.

Closer shot of the 3 rings...the ruby and channel ring are FILTHY...wait until after ultrasonic cleaning!

Engraving in the 18K ring...

Not the best "strike", but visible. There's a date in it too...I'll leave that pic out.

So all in all, a decent hunt. I like this river stuff. Now I want to try a fresh water swimmin' hole. Going to the Bahamas on a cruise next weekend. Unfortunately, not only will I miss what looks to be a GREAT detecting weekend HERE, but I also won't be taking my detector to the Bahamas either. We are going for my wife's 30th high school reunion and I am going to have to do the sightseeing and shopping thing. I've been there a dozen times in the Navy, before I ever detected. She's never been there, so now it's her turn. So you all try to save some for me, will ya???
