no Serial Number

bad boy

New member
I bought a used Whites M6 metal detector. I checked it out and found no serial number in the battery compartment. I told the outfit I bought it from that I want to return the detector. is there any other place to find a number. Maybe its stolen, I wrote Whites and gave them some numbers that were on a tag written on trying to sell it in their store. I really need this replied to as I have a 10 day return on the machine. I appreciate any help..........Pete
p.s. This is my last time buying any detector or parts for detectors on Flea Bay, I learned my lesson now

In the manual it states the serial number is on a white "label" inside the battery compartment but no mention of any other location.
It is possible that somebody removed that label to prevent someone from submitting that serial number to the Whites people to find out the age and history of the unit.
Also they have a problem with some pretty good looking fakes coming out of Asia.
In the back of the manual is the contact addresses and phone #s of 2 authorized repair centers so I would call one of them for more info about all of this because they would know if you are under a time constraint.
If you are dealing with a true ripoff dealer returning it might be an issue no matter what, but I hope you straighten this out to your satisfaction somehow.

I don't think he wants to fool with me, he will take the return, or I get Ebay into it. I will let you know what happens. I do not think this is a copy, The sticky residue is on the inner case. Like you said maybe the age to keep it a secret. I wrote Whites in Or. already

Call the factory, 1-541-367-6121, great bunch of folks to answer your questions. A removed Ser. # on anything points to "hot" mdse, IMHO.

Thanks, I sent it back to him and told him to be advice when he goes to sell the machine to tell them it has no serial number, I doubt if he will do that, but I needed to get my money back and he agreed. Thanks for the contact. I wrote Mary at Whites and told her what was going on
