No seated coin.......:( Maybe next time...........)

Had a good time at our club hunt yesterday at the lake. The weather was beautiful and in the low 80's, but there was lots of shade around the lake and a nice cool breeze coming off the water. We didn't get completely skunked and the four of us in our club all found silver. I don't have the exact count, but I believe there were three or four mercs found and quite a few wheaties. My take was five wheat's the oldest being a 1918 and a worn 1906 barber dime. I also found my first silver coin ring which I thought was pretty cool. It's a 1918 silver half crown and the owner also had the year 1918 engraved on the outside. The 1918 year is on the inside, but I couldn't get a close enough picture and get it to come out clear. JB had a friend who did some water hunting and he did real well. He got several rings gold and silver and a couple of gold bracelets one which was quite heavy and 18kt. JB might have a better count on what else was found. I think my next investment is going to be a water machine........:) There is still lots to be found at those swimming areas and surprisingly there are not that many guys who water detect. That seated is still out there waiting for me........:) I wish I had more to show you, but it's better than nothing........:) Can't wait to see what James in ND is going to post from his hunt. HH.

Once again nice finds Eddie and glad you did good. Nice to see the beautiful face of old Lady Barber and the Ring sounds really cool, especially with the 1918 date. I didn't count all the wheat's but total Silver coin count was 3 Mercury's with a 1935 being the oldest and then your Barber, oldest wheat was a 1912-S, I managed to bet the Silver Turquoise Bracelet straightened up but it is missing several of the stones. To bad nobody else from the club showed up as I myself had a wonderful time there, Always do. Hope to hit the water tomorrow morning about 8:30 if the little wife lets me.

The Seated will come for you. I've been scouting a couple new ghost towns 1860's-through early 1900's that have that seated smell but they will have to wait till winter when the underbrush thins out. Got a new spot to hunt this week but it's a turn of the century era ghost town but who knows, maybe something earlier will show. keep working at it Eddie!

Sounds like you have been doing your homework. I haven't done any ghost town hunting except for that place across the mountains in eastern Washington. When are we going to get together? Still looking forward to you coming to one of our meetings and maybe joining up again. HH.

Thanks jb..........:) It's always nice to get an old coin from time to time and be with your detecting buddies. That ring was an added bonus and I'm sure Lee will tell everyone all about it and about how he assisted me at finding it at the next meeting. At least you got a key date wheatie.....:) I thought there would be more people at the hunt also, but I guess we'll find out at the next meeting just how many actually showed up. With the parking being so bad, the others that made it were probably scattered all around the lake. Hope you got to do some water detecting this morning. Send me a PM on some information on Rodger. Last name, phone number and email address if he has one. I'm thinking about getting one of those water detectors he was using. HH.

I've been out to sea for the last few meetings. I'm home untill around the 6th of Sept. though. When is the next meeting? I have a couple of sites where I think there's a good chance we can pull a seated or two whenever you have the time for a hunt. I'm free so let me know.

At least you found a Barber Dime. That is close enough to a Seated during a club hunt and you should be happy with it. Nice Wheats also and I really DIG the Ring. That in itself is a great find and if I do say so myself, is a better find than a Seated Dime. Those old Coin Rings aren't found very often and especially made out of Foreign Coins and look that nice. Very Nice Find Indeed Eddie!!!:clapping: I posted my finds from my hunt and remember, this was a pre-buried hunt, not an actual go to a park and see what you can find like yours was. Better luck next time Eddie and one day, I know you will find that Seated Coin!

I was very happy to find that barber dime. It's not that often that I find a coin that is 100 years old.........:) That ring was extra special and it was a good eight inches deep. It rang out loud and clear and in the upper right hand corner on my screen, so I knew it was something silver. Your program worked pretty well for me this time. The ground was easy digging as it gets watered and it was in the shade. I did shine that ring up for the picture.......:) Thumbs up and one of these days......... HH.

Our next meeting is on the 5th of Sept. That would be great if we could get together and maybe have you take me to a place where there might be some seated coins still lurking. I will send you a PM with my email and phone number.

Hi, Some real nice finds there - I think the ring is spectacular! What country is the half crown from? I wouldn't get too hung up on the seated -- I've been detecting for 6 years and just found my first seated...the quarter from a couple weeks back. It'll come, I think the biggest thing is to find a park or some land that was used when seated coins were in circulation. Some better pics of the ring (inside & out) would be great!
