I have an original green machine with 8 inch coil it was new when I got it has great depth my back pack special and don't have to worry about a meter getting scratched sorry to see them go.There are a few for sale on eBay not much resale it would be my recommendation for a new user on a budget that still is a serious competitor with top end machines as far as depth is concerned.Just my opinion latest machines Ive used fisher cz3d,fisher f5. tecknetics t2 whites mxt ,tesoro silver sabre, tesoro supertrac musky, explorer xs, sov.gt ,excal ,etrac ,tesoro tiger shark yet to be used whites 5900 and the xlt.Out of all the vlfs cz3d still a favorite for depth if you dont mind going slow for the deep stuff.Love to here your opinions"

:)
They are out there, think mostly in closets now as the owners still can't bare to part with them. They are too good of a detector not to keep on hand.
They are overshadowed by the huge crop of new machines on the market that everyone is eager to try out, that are a lot lighter and ..............
The Musky has a great resale value, you really haven't seen the used price go down much, actually went up some. As more hunter would like to own one...

I was modding a Musky to make it a bit more lightweight and retrofitting it into a White's housing. It was a success....until the cat knocked the control box onto the floor...
and it worked no more.

I still maintain THE MUSKETEERS Yahoo user group, lots of info stored there for those interested:
