No more coil covers...

If any of you follow the beach forum, you know Max. He finally convinced me to epoxy the bottom of my coil and do away with the cover. No matter how well I've sealed the cover before, I always ended up with salt / sand in it eventually. I put on one coat of marine epoxy, sanded it down and then put down a nice 2nd coat of clear waterproof epoxy (the same stuff I use to build saltwater flies). The clear is on the inside of the double D too. (I ran out of the marine epoxy, duh)

and yes... I did make sure it was dry before I put it on my wife's piano bench :)

That's a good idea. I eventually quit using my coil covers, especially on the beach, but also while relic hunting because when the dew is heavy it will seep in between the cover adding weight to the coil. I never thought of using epoxy. Looks like you did a great job applying it.

Merry Christmas to you and Vicki!!

to all of mine. Sounds like one of those 'winter' projects to get ready for the detecting season.
Thanks for the tip Joe.

it was dry, or you would have not gotten a chance to use it again!
