No marking on chain.....is it silver??

Went out for a short hunt and got a few clad and this chain. there are no markings on it that I can spot with a magnifying glass and it looks like silver. With my IDX it read as iron, and I almost didn't dig it,except for I was in the woodchips and wanted to get the iron out of the place for the benefit of kids that play there so they wouldn't get hurt.
I scaped a place with a knife,on the inside of one link and the other part on the chain and the same color showed up under the scrape.

I have never found a silver?? chain, so.....To.ANYONE: does it look like a real silver chain?????

My best guess is, if the machine reads it as iron, it's not silver. That big of a silver chain should scream silver on the machine. Just my guess though. Did you try and put a magnet to it? If it sticks, it's iron. HH

The chain sticks:thumbdown: It is JUNQUE!!!! but the clip and the part on the chain do not stick. BUT ---they could be made out of aluminum.

Unfortunately your chain was not silver but remember foreign chains are not always marked. Usually at least on U.S. jewelry a marking will be on the clasp..A friend of mine found a dark colored almost copper looking ring with 3 nice stones with no markings. It turned out to be an old Russian ring with a diamond and two rubies and 14 kt. Dark color was attributed to metal mixture added to the gold ring so one never knows..
