Had to sell my excal to my brother in law to finance my etrac needed a water machine so I traded my explorer to fund a tiger shark now my brother in law don't like multi freq.machines so now excals coming back to me. Didn't expect that and a decision was made to keep em all now I five machines.Etrac ,Excalibur 1000, musketeer x,Whites mxt.,Tesoro tiger shark,no hurt feelings Bet Im not the only one out there with muti machines and no hurt feelings.CEDARSWAMP

I have five because they all do different things. If I had gold nuggets near me i would have six. You have quality machines. But if you find yourself never using one sell it.

i would say youve pretty much got it covered......thats qiute an arsenal....i have four....excal-1000,sov-gt,whites 5900,and garrett gta-1000...they all have there place depending whereyou are hunting......a 5th machine aint gonna happen for me unless i find more gold to fund it and bribe the wife with more bling.

A good point,no reason to have a detector setting around collecting dust.Sell a couple of detectors and have extra unexpected cash for the season.Rule number one never have any business deals with family or friends.

I second this. A few years ago I bought an RV from a so called friend (his widow) we called that thing the Motor Home from Hell. That was mistake number one. Mistake number two was I sold a Ham Radio to a friend. After he broke it and said it didn't work he brought it back and I ended up giving him back his money, and then sent it in to the factory to have it repaired.
Loaned a couple of hundred bucks to a in law. Haven't seen him since. Money well spent :detecting:

I will fly the flag and pledge my elegance to U.S.A.honor those who served and keep my five metal detectors haa;Have a good M.D. P.S. I love digging old U.S.coins something about the contrast between our black dirt here in Michigan and silver that hasn't seen the light of day in years that has a hold on me.

I felt the same way when I got my Excal, but now, for hunting the beach, that is all I use except for my Sea Hunter which I use strictly in the surf. The Excal is very hard to beat especially in iron laden areas of the beach. I'm sure you would have no problems selling the Excal on these forums. HH

Lucky for me he didn't give the excal enough chance I only ran it at a park however I had a sov.gt for a while which took me some time to get used to before I started getting good finds. Then I traded it for a explore xs which took me even more time to get used to graduated to the etrack .Having had the explorer the transition was easy for me not saying I'm a master but the finds speak for them self.I do miss the sov. gt with the ability to change coils and mount meters if I had one would consider doing the speaker mod to digital meter, but will have to settle for the excal which has the same electronics as far as I know.By the way my brother in law has the new sea hunter he likes better. This month I'm headed to the U.P. Michigan to hunt beaches armed with the excal.CEDARSWAMP

Yep, money will destroy a family. Recently an Uncle passed away who's estate was worth over half a million. He didn't have any kids and we always said the estate would be split between my brothers and sisters and me (5 of us). Before he died the old man was treating me like his own personal slave for the last four years, while my oldest brother was too busy getting drunk to spend any time with him. Turns out my oldest brother and sister were put in charge of the estate and they took the money and ran. What really burns my #$s is that they didn't need the money as much as the rest of us, and we would have all got over $75 a piece if it was split 5 ways, but they decided to take it all. I'm out of work trying to pay bills, my one sister is stuck in a foreign country married to a jerk with no money to come home, and so needless to say after seeing the oldest brother buy two harleys I'll never talk to him or my oldest sister ever again. Even her daughter has to borrow money from my mom to pay bills. Just aint right.

What really cheeses me off is my oldest brother was in a bad spot a few years back due to a divorce. I did some things for him to help him out and this is how he returns the favor. Moral of the story is never do business or money with family, and treasure your good friends because they will probably be there for you more than your own flesh and blood.

Some of the reasons why I go metal detecting to get away from it all ,cant change the world but myself be true. All honesty I have to agree with on depth capability of your sov.gt if you compare apples to apples same size coil with the explorers and etrac however Im able to I.D. the deep ones better with the etrac but never realy mastered the sov. plucked my first silver dollar 11 inches with my etrac placed my garrett pro pointer on top of it for reference which measures 9 inches well above that, and the reading was on dollar. If I had a chance to buy ether the sov. or the explorer again it would be hands down the sov. really miss that machine, but wont sell my etrac. Some things are going up for sale including my tiger shark hasn't been used to fund sov.gt dont need two water machines rather have another land detector.

I feel the GT has a more stabile ID at depth than the Explorer or Etrac. Also, a friend's Etrac just the other day was IDing a merc (12-46 ID) as a silver dollar (1-36 or whatever) and it was only 7 or so inches deep. No other trash in the hole. That's a big varience in numbers. So far he hasn't dug any coins deeper than my GT and all the targets he has had me check I could ID easy (and even better....I was pretty sure a few wheats he thought he had were going to be old screw caps by the warbly sound they had, and they were...while he said they sounded real good on his Etrac). The target ID on the Sovereign is tied much more directly to the audio output, making it not only more true that you see what you hear, but also much more instant. When you start running audio and visual IDs through so much software, let alone splitting the visual ID up into so many directions, something is lost in translation for me.

Hey w6pea, better watch your signature file. I just got busted by the PC police. Bet if I was worshiping the president like a god I wouldn't have had a problem. :please: So much for free speech. I might head over to that other detector website that many have went to for the very same reasons (being censored on things, and not just political stuff either).
