No good deed goes unpunished

that's the way I feel this very minute.

I got out of the Air Force after 11 years honorable service being told that at age 55 I would start drawing a military retirement pension.

In the past (up til 1980) one had to put in 20 years to get a retirement from the military. During the late 70s early 80s we were told that the Air Force was top heavy in Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) ranks and to keep the younger Airmen in the military an offer was made to the NCOs.
I was then an NCO. I was told if I had more than 10 years but less than 20 I could draw a retirement at age 55 if I got out when I did and had an honorable discharge.

I met the requirements and got out. All these long years I have waited to start getting a retirement. I'm approaching 55 in just about a week so thought I'd better find out more.

After several phone calls and having my guts ripped out and the hopes of a retirement pulled out from under me, I will get nothing. I was lied to yet again - in the military by the military.

Not a lousy penny for 11 years of faithful and outstanding service to the United States Air Force.

I see people all around me who are retiring from jobs where they never spent day one in a uniform or put their life on the line in a combat zone. They worked the same civilian job for the past 20-30 years.

So if I feel a bit bitter and defiled when I say No Good Deed Goes Unpunished you now know why. I hadn't expected a lot to come in. A hundred maybe two hundred a month and now zero. I want so much to cry over this yet I know it solves nothing. It won't set the hands of time back. It won't change how much I will be getting. I feel like someone who has been violated with nothing one can do about it.

Still praying for others to have a Great CHRISTmas.

you cannot afford to pay a lawyer to go after your pension but there are those who will work pro-bono and do what needs to be done so that you get the pension you earned.....don't take the first answer of NO that you get from our government beurocrats...who have loads of money...and don't understand what it's like living on a limited or no income! There are lawyers who get disability payments for those who are disabled and the first word they get when they apply is NO which they always say...but the lawyers will and do get what they need! The Government officials will always say NO first....but don't let this defeat you.....Get in there and go after what is due you....God is still on His throne and He rules and reigns and is sovereign in all He does...He won't let His Children down, so trust in Jesus and lean on Him and see another miracle happen to meet your needs the same as the check you rec to pay your gas bill!

Don't lean on your own understanding....Lean on JESUS!! My prayers are with you!!!

God Bless & Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to you and yours!

Betty

I know how it feels to be bitter or beat down. What we need to do at times like this is get on our knees and thank God for all the blessings in our life. Keep the faith, and keep on seeking Him! Also remember Mathew 6:33

only when we are brought low does the true faith and trust in God take over. Be strong, I know God has a plan for you in all this!

Dave

JESUS is the reason for the season!

I don't know if you had that in writing as part of your early out but, I would lay it on my congressman and the president. Might be you could get some action from them to help. You are in my prayers.

don't stop just because they said no. I served 25 years in the Navy, so believe me when I say "The government will do what is best for the government". There is other avenues you have available, writing your Senator is one, contacting the Disable American Veteran or the Veteran Of Foreign War or like Betty said, get a lawyer. I don't know how many other places there are to get help but, DON'T STOP. I can't count how many times I missed out on money owed me from our government and was treated like dirt for trying. I'll pray for you brother and let us know how this turns out.

I can't say I know exactly how you feel, but I can imagine.
I am sorry to hear about this, especially in the service of your country.
God bless and keep you safe over the holidays. Merry Christmas Pete!
