Why dont i see too mutch Gold found with Minelabs???? mickfin

anybody???? HELP, Thanks , mickfin

I'll weigh in here as an observer..I think the CTX users are typically deep silver guys. I have no doubts it will find gold, most of the sucessful gold hunters already have a unit they are satisfied with, but I am sure we will see more gold posts here as these machines get used in that capacity. Just an observation, might be wrong, but right now is the season for deep silver hunting for sure!

My thoughts are most CTX users are not gold hunting but more after those deep old coins. The CTX does a fine job on gold but is, in my opinion, unmatched in pulling those deep old coins from hard hit sites. Most of those sites are also very trashy which isn't the best gold hunting environment. I've used the CTX in tot lots before, and like the E-Trac, it's like using a bazooka to hunt rabbits.

I have found a few small pieces of gold while park hunting but the guys that beach / water hunt with ctx have posted numerous finds of gold jewelry.

Hi Mick,

Mudpuppy and Southwind hit the nail on the head, most CTX users are after deep park silver with a few hitting relic sites.

Those that are detecting ocean surf and wet sand as (Gos125) mentioned are finding gold jewerly, sure some are finding jewerly inland but the majority are after deep park coins.

You already have the equipment needed for inland jewerly hunting both fresh water and land, so the CTX will most likely not fully replace what you are current using for inland/ fresh water gold jewerly hunting.

What the CTX will do is allow you to detect our ocean wet sand and surf, and give you an edge on deep turf silver if you have patience to learn the CTX.

I use mine for fresh water, ocean surf huning and deep turf hunting. You're welcome to borrow my CTX for a couple of weeks, Give her a wirl before you decide getting a CTX.

If you do buy one, get a new unit.

I have found about $2000 worth of gold this year beach and water hunting with the CTX. Sold about $400 worth still have the rest.
One large diamond ring 3/4 carat.

Thanks Jasion Its just i dont see Gold on the M/L CTX forums???? I think more M/L Hunters are Looking fore Deep silver?????
Thay stay on the turff most of the time???? Thanks , mickfin,

I think you will do fine with the gold Mic. Like most CTX users, I hunt for the deep silver but I did a water hunt last month and found a little ring with a diamond that came in at 11-11 and it hit hard. You might have problems with the small chains but anything larger than that shouldn't be a problem. Good luck with your new CTX Mic.

I mostly hunt for deep old silver coins, but have found a gold ring this year. The problem isn't that I'm not looking for gold. The problem is that gold is hard to come by. If you dropped a silver coin in 1920 you probably didn't spend a lot of time bending down to find it in the grass. If you dropped a gold ring you probably spent hours until you found it. The gold to silver ratio is dramatically different. If my coil passes over gold, I'll find it. If not, well then it's not there.
