No gold strike, but silver/Fossil show!

Went for a spin last evening, with Huntress. Hit four surf locations and we were in the water, with Excals at location #1 at 7P, into a 916P -1.1L and SW winds at 5-10. Pressure was rising, so sands were firm and new exposures were showing. Could even feel rocks and shells exposing on the bottom at a couple locations, so I was encouraged. The nut had good target density overall at location #1 and is represented from the watch north. It had been only producing light weighted targets, for the last several hunts there. Total clad count here was decent at $2.50. Also recovered a flooded Fossil stainless man's watch. Too bad, as it would have been nice to wear. Got a Harley Davidson Motorcycles .925 ring and I had better melt it down, before it breaks down! LOL! Mike don't say a word!

At 915P, we moved onto another area and it sucked and then another lame area. We finally ended up at the last productive location at 11P and this nut can be seen south of the watch. Ended up with $1.87 here, the knife and glasses and a .925 designer ring. We baled at 115A. I wore her out! She'll be fine though and just needs a little conditioning! Betcha, she will be really excited if that ring of hers is gold or PT! It's an interesting piece, but who knows? We may go for a jeweler's counsil on it.

Nice target count, for sure. And two rings...can't bitch there.

We hit it hard from 1:30 until a little after 5 this morning and had a nice patch of clad but no jewelry and no trash either. I got 18 quarters, 12 dimes, 7 nickels, and 25 pennies. And that was in a two block stretch where apparently the tide was just right to deposit some good "coinage" but no "ringage". And the rest of the hunt was pretty bleak. We haven't had good weather lately for beachgoers to drop anything good and for the most part, no erosion action for any older stuff. The hot weather is coming back though, so I suspect the bling will too.

Tried the silent hunt method a few times last night and don't care for it at all. In fact, on some deeper targets that I got (and had several quarters and dimes that were over a foot deep in the packed wet sand) I tried turning down the threshold on them and in a couple cases they went away comepletely and in the other the signal became so bad I walked right over it several times and missed it and only hit it from a certain angle. When I brought the threshold back into the "slight buzz" zone the target was hitting MUCH better again and no way I could miss it. So experiement done, I don't care for it. I depend on my threshold HEAVILY to get the deeper and more subtle targets. But if it works for you then that's what counts.

Good luck out there!

HMMM, interesting Mike. I wonder if it is only really particularly beneficial in the deeper water or current? cjc does really address that aspect of running silent. It is only a hair, past barely audible, but I wonder. May try some tests of my own there, on the wet sand. I have been wetsanding myself lately, perhaps more than ever. I don't care for it at all. It wears me out and finds are limited at best here. The lode you see came from between the bars. Thanks for sharing your results and hope the gold shows for ya'll soon! GH

Glad you have your hunting partner back out with you. That is one load of loot you got there.I like nights like that when you are steady finding targets, keeps the enthusiasm going. Saw the Huntress's ring ,hope it turns out to be platinum. Good luck and HH.

I'm quite sure that it may make a big difference IN the water. My tests were all in the wet sand and shallow water.

Dropped a check for the bike today. I'll be picking it up Monday actually, because tomorrow I'm taking the final cruise on the Shadow...300 mile round trip to Ocean City Maryland. We leave at 9 am. I'm going to really enjoy it...looks to be a great day on tap.

HH!
