No gold but got a big silver lady

She had a thick layer of black crust and I was afraid there would not be a lot of detail left underneath, but she ain't too bad after all those years in the water.

I am always wanting to learn from others, fresh or salt water, wet sand or in the water, if water how deep, near a public beach area etc.

Thanks in advance
Gerry

Hi Gerry,

Fresh water find here in Michigan, in front of a cabin next to a old time landing that is still used for bathing and in the winter for putting out ice shanties.. A couple years back I found a seated dime not 50' from where I dug the half. Curiously the dime did not have the black crust that was on this one, just stained a dark color.

Everything old that I have found in this area has been in the shallows where there is a clay layer under the sand that stops stuff from sinking. Away from shore the older stuff is too deep to detect unless the sands moves out which is Very rare.
