I woke up at my usual hour and decided that I might as well go hunting. Tossed the detector and scoop into the back of our 'new' old car 'Toenail' and donned my wet suit, dive boots and gloves; and away we go!
I headed down to the South Shore even though the winds were from the south and a small craft warning was in effect, MISTAKE! I pulled into Horseshoe Bay a little before 7 am and the joggers were already out on the beach which was piled high with Sargasso Seaweed, Damn! The breakers were rolling into the Mine fast a furious and it was already passing low tide so I couldn't get out to the second bar, Nuts! I decided to try the Professor's suggestion of working the wet sand/shallows but I got nothing but junk and a little clad. After 2 hours of this I decided to bail and head towards home but along the way I stopped at Church Bay which is pretty rocky and rough but depending which direction the seas are coming from it can huntable, BUT not today.
The weed was piled in a foot deep and the waves were breaking at 3 feet which is a little hairy when you are surrounded by sharp rocks. I was determined to hunt though so in I went, only to be quickly covered in seaweed and bounced around by the waves. It got so bad that I retreated to the beach and hunted the dry sand. I found a little clad but it was a humbling experience so I got the heck out of there and headed for home.
I took the back way home along the old coast road and my stubborness got the better of me and a quarter mile from home I turned into Nine Beaches Resort which has a public beach as well as private beaches. I broke out the Excal one more time and the second target was a Big, Fat 14k Gold Band! Yessir! I was one happy camper. I hunted around for another hour just in case but nothing much came after the ring.
Here's the Tour:

Cheers All,

Looks like you did all right yourself, very nice to see.
Work has kept me out of the water lately so it was really good to get some splash time in over the holidays. Conditions are starting to improve again as the sand is finally starting to shift around instead of building up over the targets.
I slipped out for an hour last night before dinner and scored up a nice musket ball from a pistol, which when added to 2 gold bands, 1 silver ring and the solid brass weight, equals my total for the holiday weekend. I'm pretty chuffed about it but it's time to get back to work again so the hunting will have to wait until the weekend.

Cheers My Pirate Friend,
