No depth reading while pinpointing.

I just noticed after having my new EX II for a week that the unit doesn't show accurate depth while in pinpoint. After my second coin today that came up in the first scoop that registered 8 inches or so i FINALLY caught on.....lol Damn I'm quick.....lol

Were you pinpointing in the PINPOINT mode or in the search mode? I find that generally the depth indicator is not very accurate for coins under about 5". I think that generally you have to have pinpointed accurately before you can count on the accuracy of the depth indicator.

I find that the sound produced by the target is a pretty good indicator of depth (if you do not have the GAIN set too high).

I was in PINPOINT mode. I usually pinpoint faily accuractly but every once in a while i dig a crater.....lol

I found that since I "learned" the no depth reading thing about my detector it does a pretty good job on depth readings. weird huh?......lol
