No Cross signal but a good target??

How many of you Pro owners have found good targets w/o having that target give you a solid and repeating cross sweep signal. I have found a few silver dimes and several wheat pennies that I have located then tried to confirm with a 90 deg. cross swing. Several of these good targets would not always produce a solid cross tone but sometimes I would get a good VDI #. There was just something about these signals I couldn't walk away from and when I dug them I got a good coin. I think these Pro's are telling us more than we're use to. I'm sure a lot of this has to do with depth, target orientation, soil condition, and maybe a lot more things. Just curious it any other Pro owners have found this in their coin hunting. Also keep in mind these coins were found at 6" to 8" in clay black dirt mixed soil.

I don't dig those if the 90 degree swing produces just iron grunts. I usually dig if the "good" tone remains on the 90 degree swing; sometimes junk, sometimes not.

Hi,, with that type of soil composition, proper ground balance becomes more critical....Hard packed highly mineralized gravel and soil mix is very difficult to get coins to produce the proper audio also.....It can be very difficult to work areas plagued with this type of soil mix....But, you can use this type of scenario to your advantage and capitalize on what others have left there for you to find....I do this quite regularly and come out with a few coins every time.....JJ
