No Barbie rod this time....

Took two of my girls fishing at the pond today. Lee (13) caught 6 bass yesterday and wanted to go back and fish some more today. Hannah (15) was standing on the opposite shore and yelled over to me that she had caught a big snapping turtle. It was just sitting there underwater looking at her with the lure in it's mouth, and she wanted to know what she should do?
"I think it's his serve," I yelled back. She didn't get it. I told her there's not much she could do. She only had 6# test on an ultra-light rod. Then she yells the snapper was walking toward her... then it spit the lure out (she hadn't set the hook). Anyway, I'm sure that's something she'll remember the rest of her life.

Hannah caught three bass, Lee caught two and I caught eight. Here's a picture of the biggest one, it was about three pounds. The other I caught were in the 1-2 pound range. I was using a fluke (a stubby
rubber worm). Oh, and look ma, no Barbie rod! We released all the bass and the snapping turtle released Hannah.
