I got a little laugh when I first looked at the reverse, I thought no way can I ID that! Then a closer look, it's a Bavarian Kreuzer, the type I find here in Bavaria, LOL! I'll try to post a pic of one of mine later on so you can see the how it looks. HH, Mike

Thanks for the help. Any clue why such a small copper coin? They must have been counted by the scoop! I'd love to see a pix of one in good condition. Thanks again.

Your Kreuzer should be a silver coin. I got confused as you mentioned it was copper but very small, all of my 1 Kreuzers made of copper are at least the size of an American nickel. Found a copper one today, a 1781. Sorry but I haven't had time to post one I have found. HH, Mike

I agree that this 14mm coin should be silver. There is no sign of anything but copper here. I just knew when I dug it that it felt like a silver 3 cent piece. See the two enlarged pix below. Both pix are the same obverse side. This wouldn't be a center slug from a bimetal coin would it? I doubt they made bimetals in 1847. I have an "EIN KREUZER" (Austria) and it's copper and between a nickel and quarter in size. I'm stumped. Thanks for the time you've spent on this.
