NMH Batteries or Alkaline

In my experiences using Electronics, I have found most work better and more stable using good quality Rechargeable. What is your experience using Rechargeable? I use mainly Tesoro Detectors.

The main thing i see is the high mAh you get with the newer rechargeables..... they last a LONG time. They have come a long way in that they no longer have a memory as well. I have a hard time pulling 8 AA out every other hunt throwing them away in the trash too.... call me old fashion but it like a waste. The chargers are getting better also. Ive noticed the prices for the factory rechargeable keep creeping up.... its a good way to say im NOT paying more for your products.

Sorry but from your post I could not tell if you were for or against them or if you had really used them.

i use nmh rechargables....in the long run there allot cheaper, just get a good battery cycler charger and youll be good to go, i might sugguest a 12 volt one so you can fast field charge them if needed too..
good luck

Let me restate.... i like the rechargeable over the alkaline. The new chargers and the long lasting rechargeables just makes it worth the money.

Thanks I was concerned about the drop in Voltage!!

The voltage drops faster in alkaline. Its only at 1.6 for a very short time. Newer rechargeables can be bought in 1.6V

I buy a lot of Rechargeable and I have not heard of the 1.6 volt. I use a Foxpro Game caller quite often and it takes 10 AA Rechargeable so I have 2 chargers that charge 8 at a time. Alkaline batteries in these callers does not work very well at all.

Try the nickelzinc rechargeable, and never look back. They work like a champ in the FoxPro FX5 that I use as well! They are called Powergenix. You can find them on the bay or even a better deal on amazon. Thats all I use in my detectors, and they are great.

I use a CS 24 myself and have found the new rechargeable seem to hold their charge much longer than in the past. I have a Yoters Den Bag that carries a spare set of batteries for the CS 24 so in one trip I carry 20 rechargeables. No reason that I can see other than the Voltage difference these should not work in my Deleon.

I looked on AMAZON, and there are several different sets of batteries and chargers. Could you be more specific about which AA batteries and charger would be best? Thanks

Sanyo Eneloops has been very good rechargeables and Ansmann Energy 8 Charger would be a good choise.

I bought my charger from FoxPro and I am aware that it is made somewhere else and can be bought cheaper. This charger charges 8 AA batteries at a time and each battery is charged individually. If a Battery is bad it starts flashing.

You will not lose performance by using 1.2V regular nimhs or nicads as detectors use a voltage regulator anyway that drops the voltage down to something lower and constant. A good 2500ma nimh or higher will run longer than your average regular store shelf battery. Main thing is to peak them before heading out as they lose some of the charge sitting on the shelf.

I run 1.2v 2500mhr Duracel and Energizer nickel metal halides in the MineLab for several years with 0 problems. Charge them on an Energizer 8 battery charger that replaced the old Ray-o-Vac the cat destroyed. they work great and are one heck of a lot cheaper than alkalines.
